The historic art of Meenakari, which finds its roots in India in the 16th century, has a deep connection to Jaipur and Bhuramal Rajmal Surana Johuree. With time, through the generations of the “kaarigars” (artisans) and the Surana family, it has been a conscious effort to make sure that this Mughal traditional art form is kept in its purest form. Every single piece that carries Meenakari passes through many expert hands before it is actually nears completion. The procedure is done by masters and requires highly skilled craftsmen. Padmashree Late Prakash Chandji Surana joined hands with Late Kaushalji Bhargava in the year 1964, to set up Shruti Mandal. This cultural society was created with the intention of promoting Indian classical music, dance, art and artists. What started as a plain enthusiastic approach, gained a cultural prominence under the able Surana Family. Shruti Mandal emerged as one of the honorary organizations hosting great musical concerts.
